The word Halloween has its origin in the Catholic Church. All Hallows day or All Saint’s day is a celebration in Catholic Church to honor saints.
The customs of trick or treat believed that the dead play tricks on people that cause panic and destruction. There are lots of things or paraphernalia use in celebration of this festivity.
Did you know that Irish children used to carve turnips or potatoes for their Halloween gatherings? This is to commemorate Jack, a wicked Irish villain. He does not like by God or the Devil. He was rejected and wandered on earth endlessly. He was searching for a place where he can rest. He found warmth in a glittering candle from a turnip.
Here is an easy paper craft that can be used for the Halloween festivity. Jack-O-Lantern will probably like this:
This pumpkin in exchange for turnips is made using a paper plate. If you don’t have paper plates, just use a regular plate and trace it to a piece of cardboard.
You can make mask by leaving off the pattern or template eyes and cutting holes. Attach a stick or pencil using glue or tape to the bottom. You can hold it on face.
Materials to be needed:
paper plate
cardboard (cut into a circle)
ice cream container or margarine container
Choose:
paint (color orange)
construction paper (color orange)
tissue paper (color orange)
Choose:
provided pieces of templates
paint (black color)
construction paper (black color)
marker or pen (black)
Procedures:
Coat your paper plate with orange paint or
Glue orange tissue paper or construction paper onto the paper plate. (rip 1 inch squares of construction paper or tissue with a mixture of ½ water and ½ ordinary white glue)
For the face or stem:
Print template of your choice.
Color and cut the pieces of template or
You may use your own cut or draw pieces on construction paper
Glue them
Draw or paint the mouth using black pen or marker.
